In May 2017, Hurley World Travel escorted 25 dedicated Outlander fans from all over the U.S. to Scotland, showing our guests a number of locations from the Outlander novels written by Diana Gabaldon and filming locations from the Starz television series. In nine days, we visited over 20 Outlander locations, giving guests the opportunity to re-enact scenes from the books and show and getting a firsthand look at places where history was made and the show was filmed!

Guests arrived in Edinburgh on May 9 and were met by Joe Hurley, president of Hurley World Travel, our local guide Joe and driver Tom. We immediately took a short city orientation walking tour, followed by a driving tour of The Royal Mile, a welcome drink and group dinner at our hotel.

The next day, a panoramic tour of the Edinburgh was followed by visits to Preston Mills and the site of Prestonpans battlefield.

We were off to Glasgow for a brief tour and a visits to Glasgow Cathedral and Pollok Park, followed by a night out in Edinburgh.

The following day was extremely full, with visits to Midhope Castle, Blackness Castle, Aberdour Castle, the Village of Culross and Muiravonside Country Park, topped off by an Outlander-themed dinner at the Torphichen Inn. What a day!!

The next day we visited Doune Castle, Deanston Distillery, Drummond Castle Gardens and Tibbermore Church on our way up to Inverness in the Highlands. What a beautiful ride.

We greatly enjoyed visiting the standing stones at Clava Cairns, learning about the Battle of Culloden, walking the battlefield, visiting and seeing the Clan Fraser stone.

We took a cruise on Loch Ness and finished the day off with a visit to Beauly. There, our group just happened to bump into none other than Herself, Diana Gabaldon, at a book signing at Old School Beauly!!! Meeting Diana was an incredible experience for all our guests!!!

After departing Inverness, we visited the Highland Folk Village, then it was on to St. Andrews for a glimpse at the Old Course, the R&A Clubhouse and a walking tour of the historic town. We also stopped at Dysart Harbor and the village of Falkland, before wrapping up our day with our group farewell dinner.

Thank you to our great group of guests for trusting Hurley World Travel to take you on your Outlander tour of Scotland. Now when we watch the show, we can all say, “We were there!” It was an incredible adventure for all of us!
