About Joe Hurley

I have always had an interest in faraway places.

As the son of an Irish immigrant, I can vividly remember the family getting letters and cards from relatives in Ireland (complete with an air mail stamp…in Gaelic!!) I remember listening to the news and trying to figure out just where Cambodia or Yugoslavia or Israel was located on a globe.

I can also remember my first “big” travel experience. I was about 12 years old and my parents took our family of 6 to Washington, DC on our Easter break. I flew in an airplane for the first time, we stayed in a hotel overlooking the runway at National Airport and the hotel had a game room, complete with a “Pong” game.

As time went on, I had the opportunity to travel on business at various times and always enjoyed the sense of visiting different cities. Then, I had the opportunity to put together a trip for my father and I. My dad was a World War II veteran and landed in France in January of 1945. I put together a trip for us that took us from England across the English Channel to LeHavre, France, where we visited the landing beaches, the American military cemetery and much of the Normandy coast. The special memories we created and the shared experiences of that trip led me to explore and ultimately start a career as a travel agent.

My thought was that I could help other people create memories and shared experiences with their families and friends and that has been my goal since starting Hurley World Travel, Inc. in 2004. Since that time, we have created customized independent vacations for clients to Hawaii, the Caribbean and multiple countries throughout Europe. We have helped clients plan safaris to Africa, weddings in the Dominican Republic and honeymoons in Ireland. We have also done milestone birthday and anniversary trips to places like Italy, France & Scotland, family trips to Costa Rica and multi-generational trips to Disney World, the Caribbean and Norway.

More recently, I have begun sharing my passion for Ireland by escorting groups to that beautiful country and we have also started taking groups to Scotland. We currently have a group planned for an active discovery river cruise on the Danube and are exploring other destinations for the coming year. My intent is to share my passion for travel with other people who would like to explore new areas and participate in some unique experiences.

I personally have been to 49 states in the US, somehow missing Wisconsin! I have visited Aruba, the Dominican Republic, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. I have been to Mexico, El Salvador & Guatemala. I have also traveled to Ireland, England, Scotland, France and Italy, as well as Canada. I am a golfer and have played golf in 41 states, Mexico, Scotland, Ireland and Italy.

I would love to sit down and talk with you about the endless possibilities for excitement, enrichment, adventure and education that travel offers you. I will offer my knowledge and experience to help deliver a first-class, stress-free travel experience, acting as your advocate throughout the process. Let’s talk today!
